Charlotte Robinson

I am currently in my 3rd year studying a degree in Fashion & Textiles at Colchester School of Art and Design. My strengths, interest are producing Digital Prints, garment construction and pattern cutting, Photoshop and Illustrator.

I have gained more knowledge within the fashion and textiles industry through work experience such as London Fashion Week, Couture Tailoring at St. Martin's School of Fashion and my most recent work placement at Paul Dennicci Childrenwears Company; where I am a designer's assistance, designing for Disney.

My ambitions for the future: To have a career in the Fashion Industry as a designer or a buyer.

This blog will show my work/influences and progress throughout the final year of my degree.

Autumn/Winter 2012 Trend Forecast

During Christmas, I went up to London to look at designer’s collection in Liberty and Selfridges and also looked in high street stores such as Topshop to compare trends.

Our brief was to take knowledge of designer’s collections and look at the following:

·         How many pieces within the collection

·         How many dresses to tops and bottoms

·         Colour story

·         How much print was used / embroidery

·         Fastenings

·         Use of fabrics

This was a successful day out in London, as I am more knowledgeable of a complete collection and understand how much print to embroidery should be used, also the amount of jackets, dresses, tops or trousers used to create a collection.

I will ensure I consider all the above in my FMP.

23rd November - Fundraising Stall


The stall selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts sold out in just under 2 hours, which was really surprising.  The Tombola didn’t do as well as last week, but all in all I think both were a great success!  The next stall is on Tuesday 7th November - 9:00am - 2:30pm.

Fundraising Stall

We organised a stall selling the Bags, Scarves, other crafty bits, Raffle tickets and a tombola today to fundraise for the end of year shows.  It went really well and we managed to sell quite a few scarves and lots of tombola tickets!  A Krispy Kreme doughnut stall with a tombola is taking place next week (23rd November) so come check it out!

This is my working space at uni as you can see from the photos, I am developing my ideas with florals and letter fonts & seeing what works togeter with size & scale, flowers & traditional letters which i have relate with SS11 trends & colours.

We are currently working on a collection for Premier Vision Paris in February, as my digital print collection last year was successful and sold some designs. I am going to carry this technique on this year. Basso & Brooke SS11 has inspired me with the floral prints, Stamps & Lettering which I can relate within my personal life such as a letter in my family that is 140 years old and stamps.
