I went up to London today to get some fabric samples of sheer fabrics to help me decided where is the best places are to buy my fabrics from, at a good price and quality. I had never been to Goldhawk Road London but I will defiantly be going back there. With over 20 fabric shops with every fabric you could imagine at a really good price pre metre, I think this is where I will be getting my fabrics from for my collection.
Tuesday evenings I have signed up for a pattern cutting course, that I feel will really help me with my FMP as my collection will be based on construction. With my design ideas I have been developing patterns and toile within this lesson. As my Final collection has not yet been chosen, I am just working on thing that I like the designs of at the moment but once my finial line up is confirmed I will start my patterns and toile’s which will help me with my time management, so I will have more time with the tutors on Thursday.

I have recently ordered some fabric samples from Pongees specialists in silk. I have ordered Soft Tulle, Crepe Satin, Chiffon Satin & Duchess Satin in my colour palette Creams, Pearls, Golds & Black. I am really pleased with the samples as they are good quality fabrics & colours.
With a useful contact at my work Paul Dennicci Childrenwear, I am able to use one of their factory in China to help with my FMP, I have sent them fabric swatches & colours that i am looking for and a top from river island to source the fabric contents for me in colours such as Black, Cream & Gold. I have also designed a sew in label in Black with my name in gold, so i can have them in my garments once my collection is completed. This is a very useful contact that i will be using throughout my FMP.
FMP research, I have been looking at Art Deco to inspire my structure of garments, 80’s Power Dressing & Wallace Simpson as an elegant, romantic lady but also a strong and powerful lady to inspire the theme of my collection.
I have just received feedback on semester one, I will take in my feedback and make sure I work on my strengths and weaknesses to ensure my final major project will be to the best of my ability.
I have also handed my dissertation which I am pleased about and a big relief, as I worked really hard on this to ensure I get a good grade. I can now focus on my FMP to ensure I finish my education with a fabulous collection.
During Premiere Vision Paris 2011, we had positive feedback from the industry, that Colchester stand had great presentation and quality of design work. I received a useful contact of a company based in LA offering me possible employment on graduation. I have recently sent my CV and photos of my fronts the exhibited in Paris. I hope to gain employment in LA as this would for fill my dream ambitions.

Finial fronts for my collection made up. I really like this shape i have done for my fronts it works well, the gathers forms good shape. I feel my collection of fronts with a layer of chiffon has worked as well as i imagined, as you can see the design on silk behind.
